Respected Police Inspector Chan Ka Kui (martial arts superstar Jackie Chan, Drunken Master, Rush Hour) volunteers to go undercover in a Chinese prison in order to infiltrate a ruthless drug cartel. Ingratiating himself into the system, Chan helps to break cartel member Panther (Yuen Wah, Kung Fu Hustle) out of prison and, joined by undercover agent Inspector Jessica Yang (Michelle Yeaoh, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), they travel to Hong Kong to join Panther's gang. Initially accepted by gang leader Chaibat (Ken Tsang, The Killer), their operation is seemingly threatened when Ka Kui's girlfriend May (Maggie Cheung, Hero) accidentally reveals his true identity. Directed by Stanley Tong (Rumble In The Bronx) and featuring non-stop martial arts action, Police Story 3: Supercop is an energetic and explosive entry into the popular Police Story series.
Audiences that want to escape into air-conditioned darkness for a couple of hours and watch a succession of spectacular stunts whose peril and thrill quotient are enhanced by Chan's reputation for risking his own limb and life to perform them are going to get their money's worth. The film makers have also tossed in some laughs and exotic locales. – Lawrence Van Gelder, New York Times
