Description

This authoritative book will be of enormous value to all those with an interest in hobby poultry keeping and breeding. Comprehensive in its coverage, it examines housing, feeding, incubation and chick rearing, and the care of a wide range of pure breeds, some of which have special requirements that are not provided for by normal poultry keeping methods. All of the most popular breeds of chicken, bantams and turkeys are considered and attention is also paid to commercial hybrids. Those breeds of chicken that are not covered in the book are very rare and are unlikely to be available to beginners. Poultry clubs and shows, the meeting places of pure breed enthusiasts, are also discussed and the author provides advice on how to exhibit pure-bred chickens at officially organized shows. 13 colour photos
