It is an old error, and will account for much of the corruption that has crept in and marred the beauty of the Chris tian faith. Christianity was hardly embraced be fore men sought to evade its requisitions, as now at the end of centuries they seek it still. And if we would learn how this is, let us take into view the practices of the ancient church - we see things with less prejudice at a distance, and by bringing into view the practical errors of ancient Christians we may see as in a glass our own reflected.
