Description

Every pet owner thinks of himself as the caregiver.the nurturer. But if Balaam's donkey gave him guidance, what could your pet have to say to you? In Precepts From The Pig, Dixie M. Collinson delivers a series of self-reflective, painfully honest, devotional-type essays in which she expounds upon spiritual truths demonstrated by what is most likely the most misunderstood and mis-identified pet around-the guinea pig. Within the pages of this book, you will see how although we are faithful to the task of providing food to our pets, in truth we are the ones being fed. We may think of ourselves as the nurturers, when in fact, if we observe closely, we are the ones being nurtured. The Psalmist wrote "Praise the Lord from the earth.wild animals and all cattle, small creatures." Psalm 148:7, 10 If Balaam's donkey gave him guidance, what could your pet have to teach you? Dixie M. Collinson developed a love for writing during her formative years in the Akron Ohio Public School system. Dixie's articles regarding matters of faith were also published in church bulletins beginning when she was 10 years old. One teacher told her, "I will always remember you as the girl who enjoyed writing stories." Often, Dixie's stories were read to the class during story time. Due to the encouragement of her teachers, late in her grade school years, Dixie was honored with an award from the Akron Urban League for her essay on the life and work of Dr. Charles Richard Drew. More recently, Dixie has also studied writing for children under the direction of the Institute of Children's Literature; has had 2 flash fiction stories published in Skyline Magazine and in April, 2007 had a week of devotions published in Fruit of the Vine, published by Barclay Press.
