The extended ending on the dvd is reason enough to get this! If like me you felt slightly short changed with the ending at the movies then the dvd will fix that. A decent remake of a classic. It's no Colin Firth Mr Darcy though.

Not a shade on the epic BBC 1995 version which is about 6 hours long. But, if you just want to enjoy the essence of Pride and Prejudice in a much shorter period of time then this is great. A few things have been changed but the heart of the story is the same and a lot of the lines are straight from the book. Most of the characters are very well cast, especially Mrs Bennet and the girls. Darcy was good but unfortunately they are always going to be compared with the famous Colin Firth version. Mr Bingley was a bit annoying but played the role well. A very enjoyable love story that belongs in almost every womans DVD collection.
A star-studded cast in an award wining movie, great story line and wonderful outfits. Pride & Prejudice is a delightful movie!
Pride & Prejudice
The story of love and misunderstanding in a very class conscious late 18th century England centres on the Bennet family, comprising five daughters whose mother (Brenda Blethyn) is determined to have them happily married off and their futures secured. Mostly, it is the story of the strong-willed Lizzie Bennet (Keira Knightley) whose independent spirit is encouraged by the girls’ father (Donald Sutherland).
When a wealthy bachelor, Mr Bingley (Simon Woods) and his sophisticated circle of friends take up residence at a nearby mansion, the Bennet household (or most of it) is abuzz with excitement and anticipation. Mrs Bennet sees their arrival as a golden opportunity for her daughters’ marriage hopes and, as it happens, the beautiful and serene Jane Bennet (Rosamund Pike) appears to capture Bingley’s heart almost immediately.
