The Sands of Time was a memorable moment for my in my PS2 gaming. Who could forget swinging effortlessly from a lone pole in an antiquated chamber, rebounding off walls and careering along tapestries like some grave robber who escaped from the circus- Thus, I was anxious to check out this re-mastered collection. The good news is that these games are pretty much just as you remember them. There is no bonus content per say, which is great for purists, but I'm left thinking that Ubisoft could have added a little extra for us Prince die-hards. The graphics are the most noticeable upgrade, now being displayed to crisp HD. This is a double edged sword for me however, as the atmospheric “foggy, hazy” look of the PS2 titles is gone. You are now left with clear stark textures, which can make the palaces and rooms seem somewhat lacking in detail and finish, compared to modern games. But these games are coming up on ten years old, so I digress. The sound can grate at times, with it cutting out altogether frequently. This is my biggest gripe with the game and a marked downgrade from the original titles. If you have never played the Prince series, then by all means pick this title up, it's great value at the price. If you have played or already own all three, then there isn't much new content here for you, unless you want a second (or third or fourth) run through with cleaner textures. These games are a classic piece of adventure/action gaming history and while this package lacks any real extras, it's a must buy if you have never back-flipped over a sand demon to stab its counterpart in the face with a dagger that can turn back time..........obviously.
