Description

Excerpt from Quarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, Vol. 18 The whole subject of anemometry was treated en bloc by Dr. Wild, in a report printed in the appendix. NO form of instrument but Robinson's was discussed, so that no selection of a type instrument took place. It was expressly declared to be impossible to lay down general rules for the height above ground or exposure of the instruments. This decision will not be un acceptable to some of our Fellows, who go so far as to condemn all existing anemometrical records on the ground that all the instruments are placed on some building which produces eddies, instead of being placed on a scaffolding. The third suggestion from the Society, no. 32 Of the programme, as to the preparation of tables for the reduction Of temperature to sea-level, has been disposed of satisfactorily by the publication of the International Tables. As regards the other subjects discussed, the following is a brief summary of the utterances. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
