I switched from an MX1000 to the Copperhead. Have used an MX518 and burned out 2 MX1000s in the past.

I play mostly FPS – The key differences would be the accuracy and speed. It definitely has a better hit rate.

I generally run low DPI so I have more arm movement on the mouse pad. high DPI is great for a tanker that has to swing the barrel around fast but 2000DPI is way to fast for Infantry.

I found a small app that measured the ms of response of both my mice, the mx1000 was hitting about 8.2ms and the copperheads was hitting 1.2ms. less is best.

I thought I should write that I've been able to revise my opinion of the mouse by using the following workaround:

• Uninstall all razer drivers (including tarantula, if you have one).
• Reinstall all nforce mobo drivers with the latest from nvidia. You may have to uninstall your current ones first.
• Install the copperhead driver, it should work.
• Install other razer drivers, the copperhead now will no longer work.
• Uninstall the copperhead driver. Then reinstall the copperhead driver.

This worked for me, so I can finally get sensitivity down to a useful level. I'm rating it a 5 to cancel the 1 and bring it to a 2.5-ish overall rating from me. Overall the driver situation is not great, but the equipment itself seems good.

Oh, and apparently it still has a problem where two mouse buttons cannot register at the same time. That would suck if you play some quake engine games where you're zoomed in by holding one button, but need to fire with another.

The razer headset and keyboard were so amazing, I bought the copperhead mouse as well. I should have read some reviews…

First, it's $30 dearer in store than online, also there's no choice of colours in store (green only), so, buy online of course.

Second, there are no functional drivers for most nforce4 mobos. It's been about 3 months since they released any drivers or firmware for it, and according to their support staff, it doesn't look too good for anything in the near future. There are other motherboards unsupported as well, but you'll have to really hunt through their support system, or email them, to find out which ones they are.

Third, it skips, the drivers and firmware can't be updated on most systems, the resolution is way too high, and jitters all over the show. You can lower the resolution, but for me this was only with the default profiles because the drivers don't work on any of the systems here. It is an extremely difficult mouse to use.

It ranks near the bottom (consistently below the cheaper diamondback, btw), or simply at the bottom, in all the tests that matter.

In game, it makes RTS games awkward, and unpredictable, since you can't accurately grab & group units, and the buttons (esp the mouse wheel) are too jittery. In FPS games it's not as bad, but noticeably lacks the smoothness of other mice.

I've gone back to my MX518, and will leave this as a spare.
