I found the size was good, not too big nor too small. It is soft, slightly raised (about 4mm) for the wrist and has a slippery texture to it that won't over wear your mouse feet too quickly

Being the speed edition it is going to be a slipperier surface, that's a given, but when I got the mouse mat I was actually pleased to see that it's less slippery than my desk surface. I usually have a reasonably high DPI so this sized mouse mat works perfectly. I can comfortably slide the mouse around without it feeling like an ice rink and still have very good accuracy.
