"Do not buy this unless you have a 7.1 Sound Card !"
5 stars"

This headset will give you horrible sound if you use an on-board sound, Realtek is not a sound card, that is on-board sound and it will not work at all with these headphones. All the negative reviews and low ratings for this product are false. People don't understand that these headphones require a sound card.

Step 1 > Get a 7.1 surround sound card. Step 2 > Install it on motherboard. Step 3 > Connect headset to Sound card.

Done, easy as pie.

If you can't do that, get the Razer Kraken Edition.

"Stay away."
1 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

This headset is a massive gamble. For some people it works, for others, it doesn't. I purchased this in favor it would work, to just be let down. (I even purchased a sound card just for this headset and it still sounds terrible and glitchy) I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. Just buy a normal headset, none of this fancy 5 drivers stuff. If your willing to drop this much on a headset go for a high quality brand of headphones, with a mic separate, because gaming headsets will never be the best. The mic on this was even really bad. Hope I have saved someone the pain I am currently going through with this headset.

"Great Quality & Good Buy"
2 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

The headset is great, comfortable for someone with larger ears (very similar to the original Tiamat 7.1). The audio quality is great, the back of the volume mixer has 4 auxilliary outputs (so you can plug speakers into them) for when you want to switch, which is much nicer than having to use an adapter or splitter.

Pros:

  • Good quality sound in stereo and surround.
  • Comfortable for about 6–8 hours.
  • Looks great with the chroma lighting or even with the light shields.
  • Microphone is sturdy and folds away easily. The stiff flex sort.

Cons:

  • Volume isn't easily identifiable without changing it (lights revert to a pattern).
  • The volume knob can be difficult to determine which position it is set to as the line does not notch on the top of the dial (since the mixer is likely to be placed on a desk this makes it a pain to see where it is set).

I can't really criticize it for much else. Recommended for the price. :)
