Description

Reb Eizek and the Healing Unconscious: A Memoir is the story of a deeply wounded young Jewish boy, raised in silence about the history of his own family and the Holocaust, who becomes a psychologist and through his work and for many years unbeknownst to himself is taken on an amazing life journey of self-repair and healing that traverses the world many times over. From his own experience Dr. Diller suggests that there exists within each of us a Healing Unconscious, an internal psychological function that can lead us towards our own unique healing journeys if we can only attend to its messages. It is impossible to read this simply, yet powerfully written memoir and not begin to ask deep and probing questions about your own life. A must read for anyone with an inquiring psychological mind.

Author Biography:

Jerry V. Diller is Emeritus Professor of Clinical Psychology at The Wright Institute, Berkeley, California where he has taught courses on cultural diversity, cross-cultural service delivery, the history of psychology, and supervised doctoral dissertations since 1979. He has lectured and written extensively including Ancient Roots and Modern Meanings on the awakening of ethnic identity, Freud's Jewish Identity about Freud, Jews, and psychology, and Cultural Diversity: A Primer for the Human Services, a textbook now in its fifth edition and used widely in colleges and universities across the U.S. and internationally. Dr. Diller's latest effort is something quite different and highly personal.
