"An amazing dungeon crawler let down by some questionable tile an"

This game play REALLY well, it really does feel like resident evil 2 as a board game, the rules are easy to learn and follow, but deep enough to be engaging.

The game is hard, and strategy and luck will be key factors in order to succeed, weapons, ammo and healing are scarce, and you can only hold so much, enemies are a plenty, and can overwhelm you if your not careful.

In the later missions the game is tense and stressful, just like the game, an event deck will keep you on your toes as you don't know when you may get ambushed or worse.

With a variety or alternative rules, and difficulty levels, there is a lot of game in the box with some reasonable levels of replay value for a game of this sort.

This all said, I cannot give it that 5th star, and thats because the tile art and token art is terrible. It looks like it could have been great, but the at is REALLY dark, and I don't mean in tone, I mean as in they are almost completely black, its hard to make out most of it, including the doors, its almost impossible to see if a door is open or closed at a distance.

While what tile is where is not much of a problem as the rules say its the shape that matters more, and this makes me feel the art being dark on the tiles was intentional so they did not need to make so many tiles to build maps and keep art thematic to the location, it being the same on tiles too is very frustrating, it is likely a filter they put over the whole sheet prior to printing and cutting, but its not a good look.

If you do get this game, and really the game play is great so make your choice on that more so then the art choice, but if you do, you like me will likely want to upgrade many of the markers from the card tokens to something that pops more, like physical doors that open and close, and standees for the wall sections, and possibly more.

If you are on the fence, youtube has some long detailed videos showing off the game in action.

That game also plays very well solo, or with up to 4 players, but this seems to depend on the map chosen, not all seem to support more them 2 players, but all support 1 player.

This game scratches the itch for a horror game and it captures the feel of the Resident Evil 2 Video Game that its about. Sometimes it can be a tactical puzzle when you play, do you fight to kill the two zombies in your way and risk being hurt or wasting ammo and potentially having more enemies spring out of nowhere, or do you avoid them entirely- Comes with a nice amount of scenarios though you will want to get the expansions, the base game still is a satisfying play.
