An extraordinarily adept assemblage of film clips, rare recordings and archival footage from the late 50s/early 60s. Rhapsody In Black is a remarkable musical history of a time when these brilliant artists faced racism at home but were welcomed to Canadas airwaves by the fledgling CBC - and the results were magical. Hosted by Toronto Jazz singer Molly Johnson now these buried treasures can be enjoyed once more thanks to a digital transfer and restoration of the original kinescope recordings.
