Author Biography

Caroline Holmes is an author, broadcaster and lecturer in garden history, and former Chairman of the Herb Society. She has won numerous awards for her work, including the Gertrude B. Foster Award for Excellence in Herbal Literature from the Herb Society of America (2011) and the Radio Broadcast of the Year Award from the Garden Media Guild (2001), and she is in great demand as a speaker in the UK, US, Australia, Japan and throughout Europe. Caroline's previous books include Monet at Giverny, Impressionists in Their Gardens, A Zest for Herbs, The Romantic Herb Garden and Why Do Violets Shrink? The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) is the UK's largest gardening charity, dedicated to advancing horticulture and promoting good gardening. Its charitable work includes providing expert advice and information, training the next generation of gardeners and promoting the ecological, aesthetic and psychological benefits of gardening in an urban environment. The RHS has 411,000 members.
