Description

James Edward Rady, a Hoosier author/poet was born on a farm in Indiana and reared in the community of Roachdale. He earned BA and MS degrees from Indiana University and post graduate studies at Indiana State Teachers College (now Indiana State University) and Ball State University. He retired from a career in Indiana schools as a teacher/administrator. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II and in the U.S. Army during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He retired from the Army as a Major after 25 years of military service. He has written educational newsletters brochures, booklets and Christian Tracts plus writing and teaching Bible Study and Adult Sunday School classes. He has been a radio news reporter and host of a cable TV Talk Show. In addition to his three poetry books, he has published two Christian fiction novels. At the age of 85 he completed his first novel, a Civil War story Love Finds a Way. His second novel A Time to Forgive was completed at age 88. He and his wife, Roberta, currently reside in Lima, Ohio. This collection of poetry includes the poems that have been previously published in three books by the author. The First Edition copies of two of those books "Still The Night Winds" and "Whispers of Time" are out of print and have become collectibles by Amazon.com. They were published in 1973 and 1975. The third book "Shadows of His Glory" was 20 years in the making and is the result of personal experiences and inspirations that have strengthen the author's faith and trust in the LORD for everyday living. The author often used metaphor to reveal a closeness of life to the reader; such as, the metaphor of shadows in his third book to reveal the closeness one has in a relationship with God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. In his first book he uses the metaphor of wind to express the constantly shifting nature of existence. Life, like the wind, is changeable and unpredictable. These writings are truly "homely" poetry in its original sense...close to everyday life and common experience. He shows a deep respect for those things that are a part of all of us. The verse is simple but powerful in its expression of feelings held dear. In his second book he uses the metaphor of whispers to express the constant changes in life. What one experiences today is soon a part of the past and becomes the experiences upon which to build each tomorrow. This book is a continuation, for the most part, of the author's unique expression of truly "homely" poetry in its original sense...close to everyday life and common experience.
