Bert Oliver was only 17 when he was called up to serve in the Royal Air Force. As a Rear Gunner in Lancasters he and his crew carried out operations including the heavy bombing of Berlin from November 1944 to February 1944. He recorded his experiences his diary which included newspaper cuttings related to the bombing raids he and his colleagues carried out over Germany and the occupied countries.
