Romulus, My Father (2 Disc Set)
Romulus, My Father is an adaptation of Raimond Gaita’s award-winning memoir. It tells the story of Romulus (Eric Bana), his wife Christina (Franka Potente) and their struggle in the face of great adversity to bring up their son, Raimond (Kodi Smit-McPhee). The story moves between comedy and tragedy and is rich with the details of the migrant experience of life in Australia in the early 1960s.
At the heart of the film is the relationship between Raimond and his father, set against the profound tragedy of his mother, Christina’s descent into depression and ultimate death.
Developed over seven years with actor/theatre director, Richard Roxburgh (making his debut as a film director), Romulus, My Father has been adapted for the screen by poet and playwright, Nick Drake, also making his screenplay debut.
