Cape buffalo form family groups of 3–10 animals. However, they can also
form herds of several hundred. During the day they wallow in watering holes,
rest in the shade or wander within their territory. They will not leave this
area unless forced to do so. At night the cape buffalo feed, grazing on grass
and hard reeds.
Fun fact: In the mountains, buffalos climb up to 4000 metres’ altitude and
always live near the water.
