My name is James Edwards. The story you are about to read is mine. Let me start at the beginning and give you a little background before you proceed. I was married for nearly half a century to Marybeth, the sunshine in my otherwise dull life. I lost Marybeth to cancer a few years back. We had no children. I've sold my house to my neighbor, and friend, and decided to take the European vacation that Marybeth and I always talked about, but never happened. I have no need for a large home anymore, now that I've retired. When packing the few personal belongings I decided to keep, I came across my old Air Force uniforms, and a few other items I could not force myself to give up. Among them was an old photograph of myself and a young woman I knew, and dated, during the war, World War II, that is. Her name was Joann Dennison, and she lived in London. Since I would be stopping in London for a short time, I decided to look for Joann. London was on my agenda of places to visit anyhow, and since I would be traveling alone, it might make the trip more interesting. I had no idea of the characters I would be meeting during the coming weeks. Had I known, I might have had second thoughts about the trip. As it happened though, I experienced love and hate, pettiness and pride, and an adventure I never dreamed possible. I hope you decide to come along on my little adventure.
