Everyone at Vincent Price Memorial Middle School is excited about the annual harvest charity fair. Everyone, that is, except Crimson. It's the week before her birthday, and that always makes Crimson miss her mum, Lenore, even more than usual. And knowing that she'll never eat her mum's famous organic birthday fritters again makes her special day one she'd rather forget than celebrate. But help is at hand...To help ease Crimson out of her birthday boycott, her best friend, Scarlett, suggests the girls have booth at the harvest fair, and sell Lenore's famous birthday fritters. Crimson soon finds a way to remember her mum and enjoy celebrating her big day, and along the way she realizes that although things in this Darq world may not be perfect, sometimes, all you need to turn things around is a little comfort food and a lot of help from your friends.
