SEGA Mega Drive Ultimate Collection (PS3 Essentials) reviews

This game sure brings back memories, which is its purpose. Some of the games seem rather simplistic after the games of today, yet if it is something that was enjoyed by you on the sega console you will enjoy it here too. A couple of 2 player games are included, as well as old favourites like sonic, and echo.

When I found out that SEGA had compiled together a large number of games for PS3 I had to buy it. I still own my old SEGA Master System, you can't beat playing some of the old school games they brought out.. Until now. SEGA have picked out some of my old favorites, like Sonic The Hedgehog, and put them into HD format. With a large number of games listed and improved sound and graphics the SEGA Mega Drive Ultimate Collection is a must buy for any SEGA fan.

Enjoyed this collection of retro games. Good selection of genres and enough to keep you entertained for a long time. Greatly recommend.

When I was a kid I had a Sega Mega Drive, and this game gave me so much nostalgia when I played it. Plays just like the games did on the Mega Drive.

My sons love the fact that there is more than 1 game ,watching them brings back memories of the old school gaming

An awesome trip down memory lane playing all the great old school games. Some good co-op titles in there to go through all over again. Great addition to the collection

Fantastic game, most of these games came out before I was born so I've never played them, but they are so awesome!! Blast in the past pretty much sums up this game, a must buy for Sega lovers and old timers.

How can you not enjoy flashback of the awesome games you grew up with? Classics made better only because its on ps3 and all on one cd!!!

Lots of games to play and unlock. This is a really good collection, which takes you back to the 80's and 90's gaming. Some of the graphics were suprisingly pretty bad back then, although this is a must have for any old school gamer fan. The game also contains interviews with soem of the games developers, producers etc, and box art of the old games.

Recommended for old shcool gamers, probably not for new gamers. At the low price they currently have its worth a try.

Playing this game just makes you realise how lucky you are to play modern games. No effort has been made to upgrade these games at all still all with annoying 1 or 2 button and controls interface and annoying repeating sounds. I thought some effort would have been made to upscale the graphics. Only for the ex hardcore SEGA gamer.

This collection of mega drive games is great! I have been able to relive my childhood by playing alex the kidd and all the sonic games, good times!

The only difference is that you can save your progress and not have to play the whole game through from start to finish to be able to clock it like in the old days :)

This product is everything it claims to be and the implementation is very good.

Anyone that has been playing games since the 90's will likely remember the Mega Drive. Back then game consoles did not have a lot of power and the games were not as graphically intense as you see now.

But the games were good! Back in those days games were forced to rely on good gameplay to appeal to users and not amazing graphics. Every single game from this collection was one the games that managed to shine on the merits of gameplay, though some have amazing graphics for the era.

You get about forty games here, plus some more you can unlock if you complete objectives within other games. You also get to unlock interviews with some of the games creators, some of which are mildly interesting.

But it is the games that shine. You get a huge variety of games, from the old Sonic platformers, to beat'em ups like Streets of Rage, and some classic overlooked RPGs such as Shining Force and Phantasy Star games.

Any serious gamer would be hard pressed to find something that they do not like here. Anyone that wants to play some of their favorite games from the old days, or wants to try some of the games that set the bar for their genre should buy this.

Great fun, for awesome value for money, I would give this a solid 8.5 out of ten. My only objections are that there are many good games it skips such as Toejam and Earl and the old Street Fighter games. But still, the game selection is mostly very excellent.

This is a great compilation of some of the greatest games ever made, some I've never even thought would ever come back, and it's quite good value money as well as there are so many games…it's just a shame you can't save........but other than that GREAT GREAT collection!
