"Fine for older train set fans."

Fine for older people who aren't too great at games on a computer.

"great railroad sim"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

It's a great railroad sim, really in depth, lets you play all sorts of different styles and levels. The way the industries and towns grow according to if and how you serve them is also a great touch and provides a lot of feedback for your actions. A must buy if you like this sort of game.

"The trainset you never had!"

I've been after this one for years. Not too deep, but not too light either. A fun game without being too heavy on the stats.

"It's not too bad but still quite a few issues to be improved."
4 stars"

Still early days and have only played a few low level games to acclimatise. Several crashes have occured which is frustrating. Are there any downloads/patches that anyone is aware of? I miss the variety of the different views that were available in Railroad Tycoon,

"Nothing Special"
3 stars"

I was quite disappointed with this game as I thought it was going to be much better than Railroads Tycoon but its not. Too simple for my liking and I got bored of it quite quickly. I also found it ran pretty slowly if you had lots of tracks going. In my opinion stick with the Railroads Tycoon series.

"Utterly dissapointing"

This game does not live up to the legacy it was built upon. Railroads! is supposedly the successor to the Railroad Tycoon trilogy, however, it falls short.

It's an extreamly simple game; there are none of the economic complexities that made RRT great. It's more like a successor to Transport Tycoon but without the routing complexity that made TT challenging.

All in all, this gets 2/5 rather than 1/5 because it is rather a pretty game.

If all you want is a simple train-set on your PC, get this – it's no more nor less that the train-set you had as a child.

If you're after the challenge of operating a railroad, get RRT3. If you want finer grained grained control of each train, get Transport Tycoon.

"Fast paced railroading"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Enjoyable game play, at a much faster pace than other Railroad/Transport Tycoon games. Upgrades and events during the game have significant impact and the effect of each is clearly explained. Building is easy, and there is enough depth for good replay value. Probably not so much for someone who demands utmost realism, this is less detailed than other games in the genre, but much more accessible. So is it “perfect”? Not yet: I had some problems with 1.0/1.1 crashing and there are a few quirks about the way trains operate. I have given 5 stars in the hope that Firaxis will fix these issues with a 1.2 patch soon.
