Description

This book on retirement planning focuses on the non-financial aspects of the transition into retirement. It is a good foundation for the financial planning discussion between advisors and their clients, but it can also be used on its own by anyone who is contemplating retirement or already retired. The book is full of exercises that will help readers gain a better understanding of their own feelings about retirement. This will help prepare them to consider their retirement holistically rather than simply focusing on financial issues. The author's goal was to create an enjoyable, readable and educational experience for those people who want to consider the many issues to think about as they retire.

Author Biography:

Barry LaValley has been an educator in the retirement field in North America for more than 25 years. His focus has been on the psychology of the retirement transition and other non-financial aspects of retirement that readers should be aware of. He was educated at the University of Alberta and has worked as a financial advisor, senior mutual funds executive and an educator to advisors, firms and their clients around the globe. He currently speaks over 200 times a year to audiences on the retirement transition in addition to studying and conveying new research on retirement. His work as a retirement educator also affords him the opportunity to conduct his own research on retirement issues with both pre-retirees and retirees. Barry lives with his wife Melissa in Nanaimo, BC, Canada
