There have been two difficulties with most of the Sabbath School hymn books that have been published: First, the hymns have been too old -above the comprehension of young' minds: second, the music has been either too difficult, too tame, or has been arranged so high as to be entirely beyond the reach of children's voices. It will be found, upon examination, that these difficul ties have been avoided in this book. A large proportion of the tunes have been composed and compiled expressly for the words; and the publisher and editor are both greatly indebted to S. B. Ball, Esq., one of the most popular and successful teachers of vocal music in Boston, for very valuable aid in this department.
