"Uninspired and disappointing"

The screenshots really make this game look better than it is. The control system is based around the player tilting the wiimote left and right (as in a driving game) however you have no real control of your direction inside the levels. Sonic simply follows a set path and you move left and right to avoid hazards along the way. Considering how little time you have to react to obstacles and how un-responsive the controls can be, you can be sure that you're in for a lesson in frustration.

The levels look pretty good which is just as well because you'll be seeing a lot of the same level over and over again, the levels don't rely so much on skill but playing the level as many times as it takes to memorize where all the hazards are.

The interface is another pet peeve of mine. Each time you finish a level you must return to the main menu to select the chapter then select the next level you want to play – strangely it doesn't automatically select the next level in the list.

Packaged with its many party-mini games this may be a passable release if you can get it on special for around $40, otherwise you might feel a little ripped off with this one. Personally though, even at $40 I would return this title if I could.

The game is interesting, not what I expected but it's addictive. It is hard to get used to at the start.

better than some of the other recent sonic games as it also has mini games which can involve the whole family, but without it, it's an average game.

Description

Sonic brings his trademark speed and attitude to the Nintendo Wii in his first solo adventure since 1991. In Sonic and the Secret Rings, Sonic finds himself in the colorful and vibrant world of the Arabian Nights tales. There he embarks on his most outrageous journey to date through an expansive 3D world brought to life with realistic water reflections, light bloom, and lifelike physics.

The story begins with Sonic turning the pages of the classic book, Arabian Nights. Suddenly, he is visited by the tale's central character, the Genie, who reveals that the last several pages of the book have mysteriously gone blank. This mystical being grants Sonic the ability to travel into the book's world. Armed with his signature speed, Sonic sets off on an adventure to retrieve the missing pages, and set the world of the Arabian Nights back in order.
