Description

Excerpt from Speech of Sir Robert Peel, Bart: Delivered on Friday, July 6, 1849, on the State of the Nation In 1842, the reduction of duties upon articles of import, amounted to in 1843, to in 1844, to and in 1845, to the total amount of this reduction of taxation to the end of 1845 being with out any equivalent concessions by foreign countries.
