Spryo is the little dragon with a lot of attitude. His family have been turned into crystal statues by Gnorc the Gnasty and it's Spryo's mission to find and free them, before the final showdown with the evil Gnorc.

Spyro frees the dragons by touching the crystal statues and is rewarded with a stunning cinematic scene in which the crystal dragon becomes real again and, after offering Spyro thanks and advice, takes to the air. There are 120 crystal dragons placed throughout the stages and levels and they also serve as save points.

The environments that Spryo inhabits are totally free-roaming - Spryo isn't limited by path borders or restrictive areas. Spyro is split over seven Worlds, with 36 levels in all, and that doesn't include the bonus levels.

When you free Spyro's friends, Spyro is endowed with special abilities. The first time he encounters each friend, a cinematic sequence will be played where the friend explains the "gift". For example the Invincibility Power-up is given to Spyro by an armadillo and Slow Time is given to him by an elf.

Each level boasts a very different look, feel and set of challenges, making Spyro the Dragon a truly gigantic gaming experience.
