No matter how many times you watch it, the first STAR WARS film ever made is a blast. Going on to become a world-wide sensation of almost mythical proportions, George Lucas' space opera combines all the elements of fairy tales, Greek myth and the best of fantasy legends to create a rollercoaster ride of fast-moving fun, drama, romance and action. Harking back to the Saturday morning cinema sequels, such as ‘Flash Gordon’, the movie presents gooder than good heroes in white fighting badder than bad baddies dressed in black as well as comic relief in the guise of a ‘Laurel and Hardy’ style robot duo (R2D2 and C3P0) and large dog-like bear thingy (Chewbaca the Wookie). There's a Princess in peril (Princess Leia); a swashbuckling devil-may-care space pirate (Harrison Ford as Han Solo) and an evil baddie with a cruel henchman – Darth Vader. It's the greatest kids adventure film ever made and adults love it too. If you've not seen it yet – see it! If you have – see it again and relive the magic. The new “special edition” features newly polished effects and CGI that weren't there in the original – but take nothing away. In fact they make the movie more palatable for the new generation of computer whizz kids brought up on a diet of cool effects. And better yet – there's no sign of Jar Jar Binks in the first trilogy! “May the Force be with you.” Adz
