Initially, I didn't want to buy this, due to play-throughs looking complex and tedious. In reality, it is actually a great game and I will certainly be buying some expansions

Great set to get you started in X-wing. Everything you need to play small battles and some missions are included. While there are only the three ships and you will need to purchase upgrades to play tournaments or bigger scale battles it's a great entry point and very good value for money as you get three ships usually worth more than this set alone and you also get a set of dice and all the other stuff. If you enjoy the game then a second set of the OLD core or this new one won't go amiss long term for the value and extra dice etc.

Buying this set rather than the original core set was the best decision. For those new to the game you'll find a good start to either of the two main factions with better ship stats than the originals. For experienced players you get some cool upgrades and spare dice.

Recommended purchase would be to add a couple of expansion ships for which ever faction you prefer to use.
