Author Biography:

Dr. Sarah Lewis Philpott earned her PhD from the Department of Theory and Practice in Teacher Education at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She has contributed to books such as Contemporary Social Studies: An Essential Reader and has been published in numerous journals including Social Studies and the Young Learner. She is the author of Loved Baby: 31 Devotions Helping You Grieve and Cherish Your Child After Pregnancy Loss. Connect with Sarah at her award-winning blog: allamericanmom.net. Dr. Thomas N. Turner is a Professor Emeritus of Social Science Education at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He is the author of numerous books, including Essentials of Elementary Social Studies, and has authored over a hundred book chapters and journal articles. His research interest includes drama in the social studies and children's literature. Dr. Jeremiah Clabough is a Professor of Social Science Education in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Alabama, Birmingham. He is one of the editors for Getting at the Core with Social Studies and lead author for Unpuzzling History with Primary Sources. His research interests include integrating primary sources, graphic novels, and trade books into the social studies classroom.
