Takom: 1/35 Soviet Heavy Tank SMK Model Kit
Designed as a potential replacement for the finicky T-35, the SMK itself was a multi-turreted heavy tank that weighed in at a whopping 55t, 10 tons heavier than the T-35 it was to replace. Only one prototype was built and saw action at the Battle of Summa in the Winter War vs. Finland. After being immobilized by a mine the tank was left to sit. The SMK was not entered into production as its competitor the KV-1 showed much more promise. The tanks name SMK comes from the initials of an early Communist and friend of Stalin, Sergey Kirov who was assassinated in 1934.
