I haven't struck a dud Tamyia 1/12 motorcycle yet but the instructions for this one, if not carefully read, could lead you astray. Perspective changes from 1 assembly instruction to the next and the scale of the pictures is not large. You can get things on backwards on the engine if you are not careful. Once you're over this it becomes quite a good kit, although this is the only one of the series that I've needed to use putty on.
This is a re-release of the 1983 model of the Honda CR450R. It depicts the 1981 variant of the CR450R which Honda released to compete in 500cc class motocross races. The single cylinder 431cc air-cooled 2-stroke engine at the time had the highest output on offer among Honda production motocross models at 51.5hp, plus a semi-double cradle frame using Honda's unique Pro-Link rear suspension. With a dry weight of just 104kg, the lightweight CR450R was used by many 500cc motocross racers across the world. Later, the 1983 variant received a 472cc engine and evolved into the CR480R.
