This cartoon series consists of 10 children's picture books (Baseball, Basketball, Football, Golf, Hockey, Soccer, Tennis, and Volleyball, plus two in Spanish) that are fun, attractive, and educational. The goal of these picture sports books is to teach good behaviour, as well as family and moral values, to youngsters through sports while using imagination and having fun. This soccer story features Kicki, an average soccer player who gives her best and has fun with her team-mates while playing soccer. Sometimes she surprises everyone - and herself - when she comes through in the clutch with a pivotal pass or kick. However, Kicki's brother, Striker, thinks soccer is a game only for boys, and girls are just good in school. Find out if Kicki and her girl team-mates can change Striker's opinion of girls in their pressure-packed game against the bully Hoo-Doos and their coach, Trouble.
Charles Hellman is both a storyteller and a writer. His book credits include a novel Bogie: Golf as it was, which deals with the lives of ancient golfers during the eighteenth century in St. Andrews, Scotland. As a golf historian, he often lectures on cruise ships. Mr. Hellman also has several short stories and articles to his credit. He teamed up with partner/illustrator Robert Tiritilli, to write a series of humorous sports cartoon books for adults. One of their goals was to put the "F" back into "fun" for children, so they developed a new sports concept called LuckySports, which are sports cartoon characters in the shape of sporting goods equipment that live in SportsLand. They have written 10 LuckySports books along with producing CD-ROMs in their Adventures in SportsLand bully series, including two versions in Spanish using their LuckySports cartoon characters.
