Description

Henry Stone was born in Virginia in 1866, to a family that had first arrived in the state 259 years earlier. This book aims to profile all of his known ancestors, starting with Henry's modern-day descendants and working backward, through the Civil War and American Revolution, then back over the ocean to Europe, Russia and Eurasia, where his ancestors wore both the Iron Crown of Lombardy and the chains of the Tower of London. There are conquests and beheadings, monks and assassins, narrow escapes and canonizations, all leading forward to a family of Southern planters whose descendants may only now be discovering their family's history. It's a fascinating journey through the ages, all landing here, with us. The following surnames are included in this volume: Stone, Pettus, Crowe, Whitworth, Lamb, Spindle, Alsop, Jones, Wigglesworth (Wiglesworth), Fox, Claiborne.
