Description

The Ancient Path was birthed as a result of hearing continued stories and reading surveys of Christian leaders burning out under the weight of stress and worry. Needing to recharge myself, I rediscovered one of Scriptures most familiar wells of life, and I reacquainted myself with the life giving message contained within Psalm 23. The message is one of peace, rest, and contentment which manifests in our lives, but only with our level of trust and time spent with The Great Shepherd. I then took the main themes of the text and began to write a collection of songs designed to provide a musical devotional time for the listener. The result is the The Ancient Path. A project the goal of which is simply to draw the heart into a quiet place within the presence of God, and in that place to reflect upon Jesus the divine caregiver and provider of all we will ever need to accomplish the purposes of God for us in this earth life.

Author Biography:

Craig Smith has written and recorded eleven album projects with major record labels and has had several national top ten singles. He was nominated for the Dove award in the Best Worship album category in 1988 and named Sesac's Inspirational Songwriter of the Year. He has recorded and written with many Christian artists through the years including Brian Doerksen, Paul Baloche, Don Moen, Israel Houghton, Twila Paris, John Michael Talbot, Paul Smith, Robin Mark, and Paul Wilber. Though he has had years of traveling in ministry, he has always been firmly rooted in a local church which he feels should be a requirement for any music ministry. Craig and his wife Dianna have just begun their tenth year pastoring in the very church which they have home based for two decades in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
