The Belier Family
In the Bélier family, everyone is deaf, except dutiful sixteen-year-old Paula, who interprets for her parents and younger brother, especially in the running of the family dairy farm.
When Paula impulsively joins the handsome new boy at school on the school choir it's not long before her music teacher discovers her considerable talent.
THE BÉLIER FAMILY is a joyous, feel-great triumph that will leave you with a soaring heart.
Critic Reviews:
- " As well as ensuring that the film avoids the cloying sweetness of Hollywood's seasonal offering, Love the Coopers, the Beliers' idiosyncrasies strike a gently subversive note. " – Sandra Hall
- " [The Belier Family] has enormous charm and humour, a real sense of warmth within the family, and a knockout finale which, of course, involves Paula's singing. " – Paul Byrnes
- " The deaf, the townspeople, the teenage dreams! All exaggerated but so delightfully performed! " – Pablo Muñoz
