"A quiet triumph in observing human nature"

Newly-widowed, a woman attempts to realise her dream of opening a bookshop in a remote island location. However, the matriarch of the village has other plans and does her worst to thwart to young widow. An ally is found in a young girl and an elderly and lonely widower, with Bill Nighy in a star turn. This is a heart-warming story, with its funny and sad moments – well-told and excellently acted. A beautifully crafted gem of a film.
