Description

We come in contact with many trademarks each day on television, retail stores, Internet. The Business of Trademarks explains why trademarks are so important to businesses and how they identify the manufacturer and guarantee consistent quality to achieve brand loyalty. The Business of Trademarks is intended as a practical guide for those new to trademarks, including attorneys, paralegals and law students requiring a concise, comprehensive book on trademark prosecution to gain the skills and knowledge necessary to perform day-to-day trademark work diligently, confidently and with efficiency. Specific topics covered are: * Trademark searching for clearance * Forms to be filed with the Patent and Trademark Office * Famous trademarks and trade dress * Responding to office actions * Methods of enforcing trademarks * Trademarks in commercial transactions The Business of Trademarks is unique from other publications because it explains trademark management from a hands-on approach, including administrative duties which few attorneys handle themselves.

Author Biography:

I always dreamed of writing a book and after seeing the movie, "Something's Gotta Give," where the main character was a writer at home. My career has been in trademark management, so I decided that I would write a book explaining to a newcomer, how to handle trademark management. The opportunity presented itself when my 92-year-old mother became very ill and I was her full-time caretaker. I decided to write this book to be productive, while being available at home to care for my mother and dedicated this book to her as she inspired me to write the book and is my strongest supporter. I have managed trademarks in Realogy, Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer LLP, and FUJIFILM; handled corporate transactions in Rider, Weiner & Frankel, P.C. In addition, to trademark prosecution, I also was a researcher at Interbrand pre-screening trademarks. My educational qualifications are a BBA in business administration, with a minor in English from Baruch College (CUNY) and a paralegal certificate from Adelphi University with honors. To continue my education in trademarks, I took courses at NYU Continuing Education on intellectual property and corporate governance and attended roundtables given by the Intellectual Property Trademark Association (INTA) on noteworthy topics in trademark law. I belong to Baruch College and Adelphi University Alumni.
