Description

Why is it that 580,000 Americans are going to die this year from what experts believe to be a largely preventable disease - cancer? Thirty year healthcare industry veteran and regular contributing author to USA Today magazine, Steve Riczo, quotes 100+ leading experts from his exclusive interviews in "The Cancer Prevention Handbook". Excerpts from this new book appeared in an article written by the Cancer Prevention Handbook author, Steve Riczo, in the July issue of USA Today magazine. To put the number of Americans who die each year from cancer in perspective, it is more than all the US servicemen and women who died in action during the wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, Vietnam, Korea and World War II - combined. It is the number one killer in the United States for people under the age of 85. It is not just something that happens to other people - almost all Americans have someone in their lives who have had cancer. The lifetime risk of getting cancer is one out of three for women and one out of two for men. In other words, if you know nine women or girls, statistically three of them will get cancer at some point during their lives. If you know 10 boys or men, five of them will get cancer. The World Health Organization predicts significant increases in cancer worldwide. Yet, most cancer experts agree that 50% to 60% of cancers are preventable with some saying as high as 90%. How can this be happening? The answer is that it's the way we are living our lives today. The good news is, you have it within your power to change the course of your life if you are willing to learn what you need to do and take the steps needed to do it. The Cancer Prevention Handbook is filled with direct quotes from many of the nation's leading cancer experts. Author Steve Riczo conducted exclusive interviews with experts at major cancer centers and universities from Harvard, Yale and Princeton on the east coast to UC San Fransisco and Stanford University on the west coast and everywhere in between. It's almost as if they are speaking with you directly - sharing their lifetime of cancer research and knowledge to try to get you to change the way you live to maximize your chance for a long healthy, cancer-free life.
