Description

Excerpt from The Chemist's Manual: A Practical Treatise on Chemistry, Qualitative and Quantitative Analysis, Stoichiometry, Blowpipe Analysis, Mineralogy, Assaying, Toxicology, Etc., Etc., Etc Under the Department of Quantitative Analysis, Schemes are presented for the most frequent occurring compounds met with in every-day analyses, 'all of which have been frequently tested and found accurate. Under the Department of Assaying, brief and accurate meth ods are described for the assay of those ores usually met with in the laboratory. In preparing the method described for the assay of gold and silver ores, the Author was greatly assisted by a valuable pamphlet (reprint from the American Chemist for 1870) by T. M. Blossom, em. In the Miscellaneous Department, the Author has compiled a large number Of tables which cannot help but possess a prao tical value. It has been the intention of the Author to furnish the author ity for all analyses and tables presented in this work; and if any have been omitted, by communicating direct to the Author, all claims will be promptly acknowledged.
