Description

Excerpt from The Christian Union Quarterly, Vol. 20: Interdenominational and International; July, 1930 There has hardly been any time in the history of Christen dom that there have not been witnesses for this principle. In spite of definite movements as the result of these agitations, divisions have continued and multiplied, but the atmosphere of a most hopeful day is here. Perhaps, the sacramentalist and the sacramentarian represent the most extreme positions in our divisions, but these are not to be regarded, by any means, as impossible in their adjustment. For the present, however, we must think in terms that have to do with the healing of the multiplicity Of divisions among Protestants. At the same time none of us can think in terms of unity without including the whole church. But a fairly well expressed unity, including equality and brotherhood, must come among Protestants before we can expect adjustment with those more remote positions. This is the judgment not only of most Protestants, but of some editorial writers among Roman Catholics and other non Protestant communions.
