With a sorrowful confession that our people'have indeed been rent asunder by a multitude of creeds, we compare our present state with the history of the Universal Church even from the time of our Blessed lord; and finding it was the same, we conclude that since the truth as it is in J bsus is no way in itself compromised by the dissen sions of its professors so neither is the truth of the Church of England lost because of the mul titude of schismatics springing forth from her bosom.
