In the words of one early observer, "Cincinnati had more going for it than Nashville back in the days before Nashville's studio system developed." From 1940 to 1970, Cincinnati overflowed with music and opportunities for musicians, drawing many of the leading stars from the early days of country, soul, and rock and roll.
