Excerpt from The Creighton Quarterly Shadows, Vol. 24: June 1933 I shall not soon forget a parallel drawn by William Jennings Bryan in the course of his eulogy of Mr. John A. Creighton, the founder of the medical school and a constant benefactor of the university. In speaking of the monument reared by an East Indian potentate to the memory of a beloved wife, after he had described with matchless vividness the famous Taj Mahal, its chaste beauty of outline, its minarets gleaming in the moonlight, the voice of the once peerless orator of the west, like the grand finale of a symphony rose to a majestic burst of eloquence When he cried: To me the university which bears the name of Creigh ton is more impressive in its purpose and in its results than even the Taj Mahal.
