Description

Thousands of global organizations have long relied upon the open source Samba project for managing crucial file and printing resources. The version 4 release furthers its swath of capabilities, including - most notably - its role as a viable replacement to Microsoft's ActiveDirectory product. The result is a multifaceted solution for not only replacing costly commercial products, but also improving efficiency due to the consolidation of operating system resources.
Updated to reflect these important new features, The Definitive Guide to Samba 4 serves as an important reference for anybody interested in taking advantage of Samba. You'll be guided through the process of installing and configuring Samba. Then you'll move through a series of chapters and numerous examples that detail configuring file and print shares and domain controllers, managing users, securing installation, and much more.
