Author Biography:

Edgar Allan Poe (1809-1849) was an author, poet, editor, and literary critic. Known best for his tales of mystery and horror, he was the inventor of the detective fiction genre. His detective stories featuring French investigator C. Auguste Dupin paved the way for many other writers, including Arthur Conan Doyle, Wilkie Collins, and Agatha Christie.
