The pages of Scripture are filled with stories of rape, incest, murder, drunkenness, orgy's, adultery, prostitution, deception, suicide, betrayal, violence, and a God who is actively engaging with His children no matter how deep of a pit they found themselves in. We have censored Scripture to make it suitable for children, and in doing so, we have robbed the story of redemption of its beauty. Concealing the truth with good intentions; not wanting people to reject God due to the scandals in Scripture, we domesticate the Truth. We smooth out the rough edges of Scripture in order to preserve the face of a religion. In doing so we have alienated the ones whom God is calling. This is a story about discovering God when the sh*t hits the fan.
