For eight years I have been President of theDixon Animal Protection Society (DAPS). These are the remarkable rescues I have performed in that time. Each had a message for me, I just needed to pay attention! Connection, soul connection, and how it can heal, is a gift I can no longer deny. It took time and acceptance to bring me to where I am now. Leaving a disfunctional marriage in which I saw the mistreatment of an abused puppy that lead me to the hard reality that it was time to leave. And how that allowed me to grow and embrace my purpose. Living rural is a challenge. Attitudes about pets is very different here much of the time. But, my community and the animal rescue community here are truly astonishing. We do make a difference in our own world and hope it echoes into the world at large.

Author Biography

This is Judy's first book! But a second volume is already taking shape. Raised in a Boston Suburb, she followed the standard route through school and college. Worked in Advertising for a decade or so. Hill Holiday, SBN, Berkeley Creative and as a Freelancer, Designer and photographer. She still shoots weddings and events now and again; Photographs the animals daily too. She left Advertising to teach Art; that didn't last. She finished with a Masters in Ceramics. She has had a studio since. First a production Studio in providence, RI then transitioning to tile work and glass. She also teaches figure skating a couple of days a week. After a move to NM in 2011 she jumped in with DAPS. While living in TX she volunteered with the Austin Humane Society. Trained dogs and photographed events. Now living in rural New Mexico, it is beautiful and the rescue stories are endless! Violet is the author and ghost writer for a number of books. She is currently working on her next work. She was absolutely invaluable in bringing my book to completion. Adele has written letters to the Editor for decades. Her story of a nearly fatal botched abortion in the 60s was featured in Cosmopolitan in 2019
