Because of the recent rapid growth in popularity and use of frozen concentrate for lemonade, however, production can be expected to trend slightly to moderately upward over the next few years. Over the longer run, production can be expected to continue upward not only because of the use of frozen concentrate but also because of the increase in population and resulting increased demand for lemon products. The condition of the 1956-57 crop on October 1 was better than that of the new crop a year earlier. The first official forecast of the 1956-57 crop will be made as of November 1 and released November 9. Production of Florida limes has doubled during the past decade, and probably will continue to trend moderately upward over the next few years. Some expansion in the lime industry is resulting from the recent introduction and use of frozen concentrate for limeade.
