Description

A key figure in new British drama, Dominic Dromgoole, witnessed the explosion of new writing that took place at the end of the millennium, which took its cue from the political writing of the 1960s and 1970s. In a series of entertaining and authoritative profiles of over 50 British playwrights, this leading theatre director and producer looks at the new plays and the theatres which have changed the shape of contemporary British drama. The playwrights discussed include a young generation of writers like Sarah Kane, Mark Ravenhill, Patrick Marber, Conor MacPherson, David Harrower, Jonathan Harvey, Philip Ridley, Naomi Wallace and older writers such as Harold Pinter, John Arden, Caryl Churchill, David Edgar and David Hare. This title presents lively personal views by a provocative voice known for his uncompromising views.
